France veteran, one of the few Americans to wear the
yellow jersey. Arriving soon.
Wednesday, October 22nd – Presentation by John List, Physical
Therapist and Tony Neaves, Bike Outfitter on Cycling Maladies and
Remedies plus SEAFOOD! Find out how to remedy your aches and pains during and after you ride
and sample seafood provided by John List, distributor.
Ever thought of scuba diving? Taking a vacation with warm waters in mind? The November
presentation will be an introduction to Scuba Diving with Greg Sangster’s Diving Adventures.
Watch for more information. Scheduled for Wednesday, November 5th, the day after elections.
Welcome back to school, to hunting season, to
familiar routines. There are just a few fun runs
left around our area. I hear plans of some
athletes to visit other states to attend marathons
and triathlons. There is always a race to prepare
for if you are willing to travel. Participating in
a marathon, triathlon or cycling event out-ofstate
is a great reason to get away.
September 6th was the Garden City Triathlon
in Frenchtown
http://www.mtcompact.org/GCT.htm#eventinformation
Greg Bremer, Steve Gideon, Justin Yetter, Stan
Doran, JJ Lewis, Sarah Gonzalez, Dr. Kirk Crews,
Jeremy Oury, Mark Avery, Jean Higgins, John
Croft,
and possibly others from the Bitterroot
participated. It was a cool morning with a foggy
mist that moved in over Frenchtown Pond. The
triathletes took off in the mist, yet, by the time
they came out of the near mile swim, the sun
broke through and it was a beautiful day. The
infamous 52-yr-old John Weston was first out of
the water at 19:38 for the 1.5KM swim. Agegroup
places were taken by several Bitterrooters
and everyone enjoyed the last tri of the season.
Fall is a great time for hikes in the Bitterroot. I climbed Trapper Peak for the first time with a group
of friends. At 10,157 feet, I hadn’t thought about the fact that you can make a phone call! It happened
to be a cool, cloudy day, but we could still see the vast mountain range through break in the Clouds. It

was spectacular. It has to be the most
rewarding hike I’ve ever been on.
Three hours up and 2:15 down. And
talk about a workout! We climbed
3800 feet. I felt it in my glutes and
calves going up and my quads going
down. Almost everyone felt it for a
few days. I was hobbling myself, but
happily as I knew it was a good
workout.
Jeremy Oury participated in the USA
Age Group National Championship
Triathlon in Portland, Oregon Sept. 20th and qualified for the
World Triathlon Championships on the Gold Coast of Australia
in 2009. http://triathlon.teamusa.org/event/event/47 usatage08b.html He
won’t go alone though…best friend, Nathanael Singer; Uncle, Bob Oury; and Dad, Dr. Jim Oury of Stevi ALSO qualified and
will be traveling to Australia! We do have quite a Valley of
athletes and a number of children growing up with this athletic
parental influence...I think the athletic spirit will continue to be
strong in the Valley!

Antara Sports along with Mike Henderson of Big
Red Barn Design created a logo and outfitted Steve Gideon’s Darby XC team with new warm-up shirts. They look great. We
hope to see a picture with the team wearing them soon.
Antara Sports is also on the verge of opening an online shopping cart,
which will be very convenient for your athletic wear shopping—you
can have it mailed to you or pick it up at the shop in Hamilton. We
have the structure, now it is a matter of taking photos, uploading items,
writing descriptions, etc., etc. For a touch of the Bitterroot pass on the
word and my website:
www.AntaraSports.com
to family and friends.
And don’t forget for
Christmas shopping.
Your business is
greatly appreciated.
Barry Wilcox, Nutritional Microscopist, presented
Kangen Water on September 17th. The scientific
presentation was very informative in terms of benefits
for our body. It is the top-of-the-line hexagonal
water, assimilated six times faster than pentagonal
Page 3 of 3
water. Thus, it doesn’t jiggle in your stomach when you run…it is already absorbed. Athletes and
dieters would appreciate its qualities. Antara Sports is now a Kangen dealer so you can sample the
water for yourself. Stop by for the 30-day challenge to see what it does for you!
Runners…Yes, Mondays 5:45 PM shop, 6:00 track - if
the track is occupied with a football game, we will do a
short run. Yes, Saturdays 8:00 AM! Long runs
welcome on Saturdays. October 4th is the Daly Mansion
run and the Diva Run in Missoula. You can still sign up
at both on the day of the race. Antara Sports will have a
booth at the Apple Days on Saturday, 30% chance of
AM showers…hopefully not! Come and enjoy the
apple celebration 9:00 to 4:00.
Sunday bike rides at 9:00 still on. Having not been on
my bike
since the
Bitterroot Triathlon in late August, I could really feel it this
last Sunday. I was behind the whole way…it was
demoralizing. Time to at least get back to spinning classes
in the AM!
Long sleeve technical tee on the To Do list…would
anyone be interested in this? Useful? It would be great to
hear your feedback on this…made by Hincapie….
An interesting bit on Sugoi
performance wear, one of
the lines Antara Sports
carries…the rep, Michael Blumenstein from Boise, ID came by the
shop. (He is a musician and liked my music, Star FM—98.7. He sat
and clicked his fingers to the beat while we discussed clothes.)
Evidentially, Sugoi is a rather unique sports line.
They do not
advertise. You will see
them at major
marathons and
Ironmans. They have
the Ironman contract for the next three years. Thus, all
Ironman apparel will have the Sugoi label and logo on
it, such as Ironman Hawaii. Ironman knows good
quality and style. Check out new Fall wear, bike and
run, by Sugoi at Antara Sports. M – F 10:00 – 6:00,
Sat. 11:00 – 4:00. Stop by the shop and/or visit online
at: www.AntaraSports.com and watch for the
upcoming shopping cart…models may be solicited or
taking volunteers! All shapes and sizes welcome!
Also, farewell to Carolyn & Justin Yetter – They are off to another adventure in Washington
somewhere on the sound….Carolyn the runner and Justin the Ironman, next stop Tempe, AZ, Nov.
